Four organizations. Four invoices. No music delivered.

Every U.S. collecting society licenses its own slice of the catalog, and each one bills you separately for the right to play it. None of them hands you a single song.

Your venue

Playing music in public is a licensed act

Under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, performing a song in your venue needs permission from whoever controls it.

Consumer streaming plans do not count

Spotify and Apple Music personal plans prohibit commercial playback in their own terms of service.

There are no statutory damages in the UK, TheMusicLicence for a 30 seat cafe is £400.81 a year plus VAT.

Cost comparison

What TheMusicLicence would cost you

These are PPL PRS's own published example prices, not our estimates. Pick the kind of business you run and compare the licence you would otherwise need against a single RadioB2B subscription.

PPL PRS published example, February 2026.

Where these numbers come from

Every figure on the left is a published PPL PRS example for TheMusicLicence, taken from pplprs.co.uk and current as of February 2026, with VAT at 20 percent added so you see the cash cost. Your own price depends on audible floor area, seat numbers, staff numbers, opening hours and how the music reaches the room, and a business that streams rather than switching on a radio sits on a higher tariff than several of these examples. PPL PRS can also backdate a licence over the period you were playing music without one. Treat this as a comparison, not a quote, and use the PPL PRS calculator for your own figure.

Gapless and volume matched

Tracks crossfade with no dead air, locations stay in sync, and levels never jump between songs.

Keeps playing when the internet drops

The player buffers ahead and falls back to a cached queue through router reboots and outages.

Plays on hardware you already own

Cast to Sonos, Chromecast and AirPlay, or use any browser. Nothing to buy and nothing to install.

Music video channels for your screens

Scheduled visual channels for lobbies and waiting areas, on the same scheduler as your audio.

Staff accounts and usage reports

Give managers their own logins, review activity per location, and export CSV reports.

iOS and Android apps

Change the station from behind the bar without opening a laptop.

Programmed for the room it plays in

Stations are built around venue type and time of day, so a breakfast service and a late bar never sound like the same playlist on shuffle.

Programming advice by trade: restaurants, bars and pubs, nightclubs, cafes, retail, supermarkets, car dealerships, gyms, hotels, salons, spas, offices, dental practices, veterinary clinics, pharmacies.

Pricing

One rate. Every station. No renegotiation.

The price is the same whether a rep visits you or not, and it does not scale with your floor area, your occupancy or your opening hours.

What switching actually looks like

A letter turned up asking for back payment. I sent the certificate and the verification link, and that was the end of it.

Alan Petrakis

Cafe owner, Austin

Four sites across two states, and I set the whole week for all of them on a Sunday night from my kitchen table.

Marisol Cardenas

Restaurant group operations, Denver

We were paying two organizations and getting no music from either. Now it is one line on the books and the room sounds better.

Kurt Sandoval

Restaurant owner, Nashville

Breakfast, lunch and dinner each have their own program now, and it casts straight to the Sonos we already had.

Yes, with the right license. RadioB2B gives you a Music Licence Certificate covering public performance at your venue. Because the catalog is registered exclusively with RadioPRO Ltd, a UK collective management organisation, it sits outside the PRS for Music and PPL repertoire, so there is nothing in our streams for them to collect on.
A single RadioB2B subscription. See how the routes compare in alternatives to PPL and PRS for Music. The catalog is managed by RadioPRO Ltd under sections 38 and 175 of the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. Every work is independent, and the rights holders have not registered any of it with a U.S. collecting society, so neither PPL nor PRS for Music has a repertoire claim. For a flat £179 a year you get the full station library and a certificate anyone can verify by QR code.
No. Consumer streaming plans are licensed for personal use and their terms of service prohibit commercial playback. Playing them in a venue is an unlicensed public performance under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, and a rights holder claims damages or an account of profits, with costs and an injunction on top. We answer this in detail in can I play Spotify in my business.
No. There is no small premises exemption in the UK. The two provisions that came closest, sections 67 and 72(1B)(a) of the Act, were both repealed, so floor area and loudspeaker counts make no difference. The two provisions that came closest, sections 67 and 72(1B)(a) of the Act, were both repealed, so floor area and loudspeaker counts make no difference. It applies to ordinary broadcast radio and television only, so it stops applying the moment someone presses play on a phone, and you must not charge to hear it. Our music licensing guide works through it in full.
Show them your certificate, or let them scan the QR code on it, which opens a live page confirming your license status. It states in writing that the music you play sits outside every U.S. PPL and PRS repertoire. Most of our customers print it and keep it near the register.
Yes. One login controls every site. You can add or block staff accounts, review activity per location, export CSV reports, change playlists, set dayparting and push announcements to all sites at once. Groups above 15 locations get bespoke pricing, so get in touch.
